Only 100 km/h and electric ? No, I'm not happy either !
La Jamais Contente, RIO, Italy, 1980's |
Of course, the real one was driven by a Belgian ! |
One of the first land speed records (over 100km/h was acheived with this electric torpedo-shaped car in 1899 by Belgian Camille Jenatzy. Read more about it here.

Green zapping power !
Tomi gun, Shawnee Mfg. Inc. 1955, USA |
What happens when yout transform a Colt-like pistol into a raygun ? Something like this. Add some lightning, a water-squirt mechanism, a red plug and a round water tank at the top and voilá !
Very simple design, but definitely oozing 1950's space-age ! (thank you Brian :)

If you cannot buy them... make them...
Hotwheels went the right way when they started the line of the movie cars, with classics like the Batmobile, the Delorean from Back to the Future and even lately some Star Trek ships...
But what if they could go all the way, and create miniatures of iconic vehicles that have not been released yet ? This is what a passionate fellow collector is doing. And the results are just spectacular !
Korben's Taxi, Hotwheels recreation, 2020's |
Kaneda's Bike, Hotwheels recreation, 2020's |
Other vehicles on my wish list ? Starsky and Hutch Torino, James Bond Dragon tank, Little Nellie and Lotus Esprit, Green Hornet's Black Beauty, Mad Max Ford Falcon, Deckard's Bladerunner car, Tron's bike, Starship Troopers Roger Young, Hardcastle and McCormick Coyote, Condorman's car, T-2 motorcycle and truck, etc. etc.
I'd buy these right away !

Albator - le jeu (the game)
Le Jeu d'Albator, Orli Jouet, Italy, 1979 |
In the series of board games based on my childhood heroes, this one is the French (but made in Italy ???) ORLI JOUET game of Albator. Why did the French continuesly put robots in their renderings of Matsumoto's Space Pirate is still a pending question. (it started in the French-drawn Albator comics in the Capitaine Fulgur magazines, but here too, you have robotic drawings on the tokens that suposedly should represent the Sylvidres / Mazones...)
It's lacking Matsumoto's original artwork, except for 3 small images of the cartoon... from the cartoon |

Supermarionation SUB - you go Troy Tempest !
Stingray, Charawheels, Bandai 2001, Japan |
Before the Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet, this show helped get the puppeteers of Supermarionation team / Gerry Anderson up to level with the different techniques needed in their art. Read more about it here.

It's cold on Hoth part 2... (SD version)
Luke and Tauntaun, Funko, Vietnam, 2022 |
I'm not really into the Funko POP craze, but this bobble-head Luke on Tauntaun is a flea market find and I just could not let it stay there. (after all, it's from Empire...)

... or Captain Future |
Capitaine Flam, HL PRO, China, 2023 |
Finally a (big) toy with the correct colours |
... and the famous "F" belt ! |
Capitaine Flam / Captain Future was yet another one of these cartoons that made a generation stay in front of their TV day after day. Especially since a whole story spread over 4 episodes each - which gives a choice of character development that other series did not have.
Alter Ego ? Curtis Newton |
